THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE!

* * *

Dear loved ones gone, no longer here,

Feeling still, our hearts the pain.

But in this truth we do rejoice,

We will see them once again!

* * *

Christ is risen, Christ is risen,

And the dead in Christ shall rise.

Christ is risen, Hallelujah,

Yes, the dead in Christ shall rise!

* * *

What joy to know the dead shall rise,

Jesus took from death it’s sting.

We sorrow not as others do,

Of victory we sing!

* * *

Christ is risen, Christ is risen,

And the dead in Christ shall rise.

Christ is risen, Hallelujah,

Yes, the dead in Christ shall rise!

Scripture teaches the resurrection of the dead with strong words.

1 Corinthians 15:13 “But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:”

1 Corinthians 15:16 “For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:”

Scripture also explains “how” the resurrection of the dead is possible.

1 Corinthians 15:36-37 “Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:”

Various commentaries on the resurrection of the dead:

(Peoples New Testament Commentary)

Thou fool. The idea is, slow of understanding. Why cannot you learn the lesson nature teaches? The grain that thou sowest has to die and be dissolved before it comes forth in a new life. So the body must die and be dissolved.

(John Wesley Notes)

Thou sowest not the body that shall be produced from the seed committed to the ground, but a bare, naked grain, widely different from that which will afterward rise out of the earth.

(Matthew Henry Concise Commentary)

It is foolish to question the Almighty power of God to raise the dead, when we see it every day quickening and reviving things that are dead. To the second inquiry; The grain undergoes a great change; and so will the dead, when they rise and live again. The seed dies, though a part of it springs into new life, though how it is we cannot fully understand. The works of creation and providence daily teach us to be humble, as well as to admire the Creator’s wisdom and goodness.

And finally, we have these words of comfort.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”
